Vanitas – FOLA
A smartphone thriller told through the secret language of flowers.
Vanitas blurs factual documentary with fantastical imagination, pencils figures of the past into a world of smartphones and draws listeners into a mysterious void held open for 300 years.
Deep down you’ve always known it: all moments are fleeting and so are you. Everything else is vanity. But how easy we forget, and how quickly we rush to ignore the life slipping between our fingers. What at first appears to be simple, turns out to be increasingly complex the closer we look.
Follow the narrators as they move across the city tracking down the experts and evidence needed to fill the void at the centre of their inquiry. Each step forward brings them a little closer to the past. Yet they are only one step ahead of you.
Vanitas stretches across the glass of your phone, up your finger, through your body and out into the world. You can sit back and listen, or take it for a walk in search of the clues hidden the streets around you. The problem is knowing where the edges are, where Vanitas ends and the real world begins.
